Vicky and Tom celebrated their winter wedding at Hendall Manor Barns on a rather damp day in February, but no rain or chilly winds could dampen their high spirits, with winning smiles on their faces all day, this wedding was one fun filled affair!
Vicky and Tom first came to see us in December 2018 and their love for the venue upon first visit was evident; so much so, they booked their wedding date on the spot!
They re-visited us again for our first ever wedding showcase which we held in January 2019 and met and booked a lot of their wonderful wedding suppliers from the showcase too. We love working with such decisive people!
The fabulous couple had chosen venue decor specialists To Have and To Hire to install festoon lighting in to the barn and this really helped to create fantastic ambient lighting within the Stone Barn; particularly effective on a grey day, adding a real warmth to the space. The lighting was all installed the day before, but we insisted they not see it on until their wedding day; nothing better than those wedding day surprises!
After all the wedding items were dropped off and we held a quick rehearsal for the bridal party, Vicky and her bridesmaids stayed with us the night prior to the big day in our super onsite bridal accommodation and enjoyed a girly evening together.
The following morning was a hive of activity with hair and make up for all the ladies and finishing touches undertaken by Vicky’s mother in the main barn.
Their chosen caterer were the wonderful duo, Louise and Katie of LK Events Ltd. This Newick based caterer are one of our approved and recommended caterers and with Katie in the kitchen and Louise steering the ship front of house, this wedding party were in excellent, reliable hands!
Caterhire had been booked to provide some wonderful dappled grey crockery which tied in with the couples dark green and grey wedding colour palette.
We were thrilled to see Claudia of Purple Flour had been booked to provide this couples wedding cake. Three tiers, of ‘naked’ sponges consisting of Pistachio & Lime, Chocolate Orange and Lemon flavours sat proudly on a wooden log slice and were adorned by a pair of bride and groom pine cones; so sweet!
The cake was actually enjoyed as the couple’s pudding at their wedding breakfast, so a couple of extra tray bakes were also provided by Claudia to ensure there was plenty of cake to go around everyone. Rumours are that the Chocolate Orange flavour was completely exquisite!
Katherine of Florist in the Forest provided THE most amazing floral installations we’ve seen for quite some time!
An amazing floral chandelier was created to hang from the beams above the main entrance space. This was filled with stems of eucalyptus and olive branch and finished off with white wisteria which hung effortlessly from the main foliage. Not only was it just so beautifully striking and complimented the space amazingly, it also smelt divine!
She also created a beautiful backdrop for the end wall of the barn; a large wicker hoop which she lovingly layered up with eucalyptus, cotton plants and white roses in the shape of a C, which was a wonderful nod to the couples new married surname.
Craig Payne and his assistant, Jo, were appointed as their professional photographers and they had great fun capturing all the happy smiles, happy tears, gorgeous details and general awesomeness that this wedding brought!
Despite the wet conditions, Craig and Jo had a happy go lucky couple on their hands in Vicky and Tom, who had no qualms in donning their wellies and cowering under umbrellas to make their way to certain undercover locations around Hendall to capture some of their couple photographs.
As luck would have it, by the time all the guests had taken their seats for the start of the wedding breakfast, the weather gods had a change of heart and the afternoon sun began to shine. The couple headed back outside with Craig and captured some truly beautiful shots with a wintery glow from the sun providing ‘golden hour’ type hues in and around the grounds.
Their wedding ceremony was held in the Stone Barn with 65 guests and an excited groom eagerly awaiting the arrival of the bride. Vicky was walked down the aisle by her father and was preceded by her four gorgeous bridesmaids who wore floor length emerald green gowns.
Vicky was an absolute vision! With a cheeky smile on her face all day long, she absolutely wowed everyone when she made her entrance. Her bridal gown from Wed2Be was beautifully designed for her, and was a dress with a surprise! A tight fitted, floor length dress, with the addition of a large tulle skirt and gorgeous cathedral length veil, adorned with hundreds of pearls all over it!
In the evening, Vicky’s tulle skirt was removed to reveal the gorgeous dress beneath, much to the amazement of her Groom and guests!
Vicky’s sister handmade a lot of the sign written items for their wedding, from a wooden pallet table plan, wooden Mr and Mrs signs for the top table and hand written clothes pegs for the guests table name places; a lovely handmade touch for everyone to enjoy!
Pine cones were a prominent feature of their winter wedding decor. We may still find some for a while to come, secretly tucked into the smallest nooks and alcoves within the barn!
The evening band was the awesome Technicolour Band, a Brighton based trio who kept the guests on the dance floor in true wedding band fashion!
LK Events provided a delectable spread of charcuterie and cheeses for all the guests to tuck in to and the bar was flowing with Harvey’s best bitter, Gin and Tonics, wine, bottles of lager served from a wheelbarrow, Prosecco and kilner jars of sparkling elderflower with mint and lime garnishes!
The couple finished off their celebrations with a sparkler send off on the terrace, surrounded by all their friends and family and a magnificent shot achieved by Craig of the newlyweds sharing a kiss under a constellation lit sky!
Thank you to all who were involved in making this day the success that it was!
Vicky and Tom wrote the following thank you to us which we think is worthy of a share here:
“We can’t put into words how grateful we are for all your help in the build up to and on our amazing wedding day. It was honestly the most happy and fantastic day we have ever had and we so appreciate everything you did to help it run smoothly. So many of our guests were in love with your gorgeous buildings and grounds and the photos we have been sent by everyone are just beautiful.”
You can’t get more effusive than that; a winter wedding at Hendall to remember!!
