Diana and Manas held their wedding day at Hendall on a perfect summer’s day in June 2019. A completely vegan wedding was one of the defining features of the day and one which we were hugely pleased to host.
Their ceremony was held in the Stone Barn and it was a pleasure to welcome just shy of 100 of their friends and family to Hendall to celebrate their marriage.
Diana’s son acted as Best Man to Manas and one of their twin sons was Diana’s pageboy. He walked in ahead of her down the aisle; the other was just a bit too shy for the all limelight of their Mum and Dad’s big day!
Diana was walked down the aisle by her father and she wore an elegant, dusky pink, knee length lace dress which she had bought from The Ozone Bridal Shop in Brighton; partnered with some pretty pale pink slingbacks and her gorgeous, vibrant bouquet, she looked very chic!
Their chosen music was performed by Jeremy Sassoon, a jazz and blues singer and pianist. He is regularly booked into the top jazz venues in London and Europe so it was a real pleasure for us to have him perform here.
The wedding cake was made by our hugely talented friend, Claudia of Purple Flour and boy did she do an excellent job. You guessed it, a totally vegan wedding cake was ordered and Claudia arrived on Saturday morning to set this up in the Stone Barn.
This semi-naked cake, consisted of three tiers of different flavour sponges (Red Velvet, Lemon and Carrot!) beautifully iced in a rustic fashion and simply decorated with fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. This sat proudly on top of a wooden slice cake stand to complete the overall finish. It tasted amazing!!
For this vegan wedding couple, our wonderful approved caterer, John from Cashew Catering was a clear choice for the wedding catering!
Specialising in vegan, vegetarian and raw food catering, John and his team were appointed to look after Diana, Manas and their friends and family on their special wedding day.
After the ceremony had concluded, guests made their way out on to the terrace to make the most of the gorgeous sunshine and where canapes and fizz awaited them!
Jeremy’s colleagues, a Double Bass and Saxophone duo entertained guests in the Courtyard during the drinks reception.
For the wedding breakfast, guests were treated to Mushroom Spring Rolls, Vegetable Thai Green Curry, Mango and Prosecco Sorbet and a delicious Chocolate tart with Pineapple and vegan ice cream – how great does that all sound?!
Carine Roberts and her husband were the couple’s chosen wedding photographers; despite being a local Uckfield couple, this was their first time to Hendall and it was a real pleasure to work with them for Diana and Manas’ wedding.
As a general rule, when they work together, he follows the Groom and she follows the Bride. In doing so, when they put their photos together, they are able to create a chronological story of the wedding. Her husband also captures the in-between candid shots, while she works to organise the more formal shots of the day.
Their approach is relaxed and friendly; just what every wedding should be!
Diana and Manas had booked the lovely, Jeanne of the Wild Orchid as their florist. Jeanne is a recommended supplier here and lives just a stones throw from Hendall!
The entrance milk churns were filled with stunning arrangements of pink and purple flowers with tonnes of foliage for that added impact. Inside the barn, the end wall was adorned with Jeanne’s large wicker heart and the ceremony aisle was decorated with pink hydrangeas and white bows.
The wedding breakfast tables saw fishbowl vase arrangements brimming with pink hydrangeas, lilac and pink sweet peas, white wax flower and purple delphiniums. These vases sat on round mirrors and were surrounded by ‘aged glass’ votive tea light holders with lit candles.
On these tables, sitting neatly on each persons napkin were the wedding favours. Provided and made by Claudia at Purple Flour, were sweet individual bags of heart shaped vegan biscuits. Lavender flavour for the adults (decorated with a sprig of lavender) and lemon flavour for the children.
In the evening, Jeremy Sassoon was back with his band and provided an amazing jazz band for the evening reception. Our uplighters transformed the room in to an ambient party space and Cashew Catering laid on baskets of vegan hot dogs, wedges and slices of wedding cake!
A sparkler send off for this happy couple concluded their wedding day. A day filled with love, laughter and happiness.
It was so lovely to have a totally vegan wedding here and just shows that by having your wedding here at Hendall, you really can tailor your day to almost any desire or requirement!
Diana and Manas, we wish you all the very best for a lifetime of love.
