Kate and Chris and were married at Hendall Manor Barns on the hottest day of 2019 so far; an amazing day for a summer wedding at Hendall.
Chris was probably the most nervous Groom we have encountered (poor chap!) all the months of planning had finally arrived and nerves were high! A glass of water and a few ginger biscuits later, he knew as soon as he saw his gorgeous Bride and wife to be that all would be just fine, and so it was!
Kate on the other hand was having a hugely fun morning in The Barn with her Bridal party. The fizz was flowing and hair and make up were taking place whilst they tried to remain as cool as possible, in the almost 30 degree heat (by 10am!)
Julie Forster was their chosen make up supplier and it was great to welcome Julie back here again. Working alongside Julie, was Katie Wright who was in charge of the ladies’ hair.
Once the formalities had taken place with the Registrars, the ceremony was due to commence. Kate’s two bridesmaids (her best friend since she was a young girl and her niece) wore stunning full length dusky blue dresses and walked in ahead of Kate.
Kate was walked down the aisle by her older sister, who wore an amazing pale pink jumpsuit, with striking gold necklace! Our lovely Bride wore a long lacy dress with rounded neckline and a pretty ‘court/puddle’ train extending at the back.
She walked in to Elvis Presley’s “I can’t help falling in love with you” ; a wonderful song and just perfect for a wedding!
Their ceremony was not set up in the traditional straight aisle arrangement as we so often see, but on this occasion was positioned ‘sideways’ in the Stone Barn. This set up allows for a slightly more informal feel and can also accommodate more guests on the front row!
Not Your Average I Do had cleverly installed an amazing hanging lantern display up in the beams that added a real wow factor to the space.
Zelie of the Homegrown Flower Company was back again, installing her fantastic flowers in the Barn. Jars, bottles and vases of Cornflowers, Astilbe, Delphinums and Stocks decorated the ceremony table and wedding breakfast tables and achieved every bit the rustic, relaxed, homegrown effect desired.
Liz from Sylvia’s kitchen was in charge of the wedding cake and created a stunning three tiered semi naked cake, decorated with Lavender sprigs and Roses and complete with two love birds on the top as decoration.
The couples flavour choices, in our opinion, were inspired. Champagne and Strawberry for one tier, Lemon Sponge and Chocolate for the other two tiers; perfect pairings and a good choice for their guests too!
Liz is one of our select and most recommended cake suppliers here at Hendall and we love seeing her and her beautiful creations!
After the ceremony, Fizz, bottled Lager and sparkling Elderflower were served to guests on the terrace and canapes soon followed. Everyone was suitably relaxed whilst enjoying the hot sunshine on this wonderful day.
Whilst guests were soaking up the sun and drinks, Elizabeth Caton Food and Wine, the couple’s chosen wedding caterer, were busy inside changing the space from wedding ceremony to wedding reception.
The Bride and Groom had opted for two long rustic tables stretching the length of the lower section of the barn with a long top table sitting on the upper level. These tables were hired in from Co-ordination Catering Hire and look truly fantastic in the Barn!
Personalised pots of jam doubled up as wedding favours and place settings and the vases of flowers dotted down the length of the tables worked to create height and colour in a simple, yet effective way.
We were delighted to have Chelsea Wedding Photographer back here to photograph this lovely wedding and, working with Chelsea, was the lovely Mark from The Shortfilm company who was in charge of videoing Kate and Chris’ wedding day.
Both Chelsea and Mark are recommended by Hendall and it is always a pleasure to see them here and work with them to ensure we are giving our couple’s the best day and experience they can imagine.
For the evening party, Neil Postlethwaite of Odyssey Disco was the chosen DJ to entertain the wedding party and ensure everyone was on the dancefloor. Neil is a regular face here and another recommended supplier of ours. It was fantastic to have such a ‘dream team’ of suppliers working with us for this wedding.
Pizzas were brought out later in the evening and served from one of the rustic tables, now situated on the upper level of the Barn. These went down a real storm with the wedding guests; Lizzie and Charlie of Elizabeth Caton Food and Wine, really excel at creating these and making them look so terrific!
Despite the sweltering heat (for the UK anyway!), a great day was had by all and Hendall looked truly beautiful in the summer sunshine.
Kate and Chris – may you be as happy as happy can be with one another and please accept our best wishes for a lifetime of love together.
