What a pleasure and delight it was for us to host Joe and Isabel’s intimate wedding reception here in July.
In an old fashioned kind of style, this wedding was meticulously arranged by our lovely Bride’s Mother. Alison took on all the wedding organising and, despite the odd stressful moment here and there, she really took it all in her stride.
Isabel was the most relaxed Bride and was more than happy for her Mum to make all the arrangements; she had to say yes or no now and then, but Alison knew what her daughter wanted, that she simply ‘ran with it’ and made it all happen!
We loved working with Ali to ensure Joe and Isabel had the most incredible wedding reception with us.
They were married in Frant Church just outside Tunbridge Wells in Kent and the morning’s wedding preparations took place at the family home; less than a couple of minutes walk from the Church!
Isabel, her Bridesmaids and Parents were escorted to the church via two vintage wedding cars, which brought them on to Hendall after the ceremony.
Arriving ahead of their guests, allowed for a few moments together to enjoy a glass of fizz and to have a few snaps with their photographer.
Craig Payne was the couple’s chosen photographer; a great friend and regular here at Hendall, we of course loved having Craig here to photograph their intimate wedding reception.
In addition to Craig, Isabel and Joe also decided that they would like to hire a videographer to capture their special day too.
The wonderful team at Cut Above Productions were enlisted for the job and they discreetly worked alongside Craig capturing all the beautiful moments of their wedding day.
Videographers are one of the biggest regrets we hear from couples who decided against having one. We love seeing the actual footage and how lovely for couples to look back on for years to come and almost re-live the whole day! We would certainly recommend having one and we have some great contacts on our recommended list, including Cut Above Productions!
Kerry at Highgate Florist was in charge of creating all the wedding flowers. Pale pink Peonies where the main flower choice and these were flanked with white hydrangeas, gypsophila and lush foliage.
Kerry is situated just down the road from us in the nearby village of Rotherfield and grows a huge amount of her own flowers at her flower nursery. Kerry has been here many times before and is also one of our recommended suppliers!
Lisa Elliott of Elliott Catering was the wedding caterer in charge of all of the guests once they arrived to us. Lisa was well known to the family, having catered at previous occasions for them, so they knew they were in safe and capable hands with Lisa at the helm.
Their wedding cake was made by the team at Groombridge Bakery and was brought to Hendall and set up in the Stone Barn prior to the wedding party’s arrival.
The cake was a beautiful, three tiered white fondant iced cake, divided with pink and yellow flowers and intricately detailed with stunning lace piping work.
Drinks and substantial canapes were offered to guests on the Terrace upon their arrival.
After a short while, Isabel and Joe, along with the bridesmaids and ushers, disappeared off with Craig to capture the all important couple and group photos, whilst their remaining guests were entertained by a live pianist, Jonathan Majin and a close up magician, Andrew Kelly in our lovely courtyard.
Their wedding breakfast in the Stone Barn was a sumptuous two course meal consisting of Italian-style roasted Chicken, accompanied by varying bowls of wonderful salads and new potatoes. Banoffee pie and meringues, strawberries and cream were served as pudding; a perfect summer offering!
After speeches and tea and coffee, the wedding guests made their way back outside whilst the Stone Barn was quickly re-set for the evening reception.
Their DJ, Brian Mole had set up his fun and funky VW camper van DJ booth at the bottom end of the barn and the couple took to the floor for their first dance.
The Bride’s words as she left the venue and kissed her parents goodbye was “this has been the best day of my life”; you can’t really get higher praise than that!
They departed Hendall via an archway of sparklers and headed off in an executive car to spend their first night as husband and wife at One Warwick Park Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells.
