Adele and Steve were our first wedding couple to kick-start 2019 weddings at Hendall Manor Barns.
Working for the British Army, Steve currently works abroad , so it was largely down to Adele to search, find and book their wedding venue.
Adele came to see us for the first time in November 2018, and, along with her Chief Bridesmaid, she made the decision there and then, that Hendall was the venue for them.
With four months to go until the big day, Adele got straight on with her wedding planning and, at her initial showround, when discussing her ideas and thoughts, we were very quickly able to identify and suggest a handful of suppliers she might like to make contact with.
These included Martin Doyle at MDFood4Thought as her caterer and Jeanne at The Wild Orchid as her florist.
Former British Army colleague and long time friend, Dan Lewis was appointed as their official wedding photographer and a family friend was asked to design and provide their wedding cake.
Jeanne from The Wild Orchid was responsible for providing the finishing touches to their wedding cake, and on the morning of the wedding, Jeanne adorned their cake with beautiful fresh flowers, including the most spectacular orchid positioned on the top tier; a real crowning glory.
The afternoon before their wedding, they arrived and dropped off all of their carefully chosen decorations and drinks; the drinks were moved in to the fridges to chill overnight, in readiness for the next day and the few decorative touches were positioned in and around the barn as Adele and Steve had envisaged.
Adele, her Parents and four Bridesmaids took advantage of staying on site at Hendall in our beautiful self-catering barn and piggery accommodation the night before the big day.
After a quick wedding rehearsal in the Stone Barn with all the bridal party, Steve and the boys headed off home and the ladies relaxed and had dinner in the Barn accommodation, before retreating to bed for a peaceful nights sleep ahead of the big day.
The following morning, the Barn was a hive of activity with hair and make up suppliers arriving to pamper the bridal party and the photographers ensuring they captured those all important bridal preparation shots.
It was the most beautiful day, the sun was shining and it felt like a spring day in April, rather than February; quite a shock and a delight for all the wedding party!
Whilst Steve and his Best Man, Gary, met with the Registrars, we ensured all the guests were gathered together in the Stone Barn and started taking their seats in readiness for the wedding ceremony to commence.
Adele and her Father, Mick, were next to meet the Registrars whilst Steve, Gary and his Brother (and Usher) waited nervously for the bridal party entrance in to the Stone Barn.
Adele walked down the aisle to Eva Cassidy’s stunning, ‘Songbird’, she was relaxed, calm and serene and smiled the whole length of the aisle until she arrived to the front with Steve.
The ceremony lasted about 15 minutes, and, after this, all the guests flooded out on to our beautiful enclosed terrace to make the most of the gorgeous sunshine and enjoy a glass or two of Prosecco and/or Bucks Fizz.
Adele and Steve soon headed off to the private lawns, pond and swing for their bridal photoshoot with Dan and their guests remained on the terrace soaking up the unexpected February sun.
Whilst the guests were outside, the Stone Barn was re-laid for the wedding breakfast.
Adele and Steve chose to position their top table on the upper level of the barn which looked down to their guests on the tables below; this works hugely well for the speeches, not to mention making a striking top table really stand out.
Adele had organised with us for a surprise to take place in the wedding breakfast for her new Husband; a singing waiter, provided by Silver Service Singers!
Not only was Steve hugely surprised, the guests thoroughly enjoyed this additional entertainment; they were soon up dancing and joining in.
The singing waiter, doubled up as the DJ for the evening’s entertainment, and after the couple cut their cake, they made their way on to the dance floor to take their first dance as husband and wife; such a wonderful couple moment!
The guests were provided with evening food in the form of bacon sandwiches by Martin and his team and the dance floor was well used throughout the evening party.
At the end of the night, their guests lined up on either side of the terrace and wished the newlyweds well by cheering them off through an archway of stunning gold sparklers.
Adele and Steve’s wedding was such a brilliant start to the wedding season here at Hendall Manor Barns and we wish them both all the very best as husband and wife.
Thanks must go to Dan Lewis for these photographs – Dan was a real pleasure to have photographing Adele and Steve’s wedding at Hendall.
