Winter Weddings at Hendall

Thinking of booking a winter wedding?

At Hendall Manor Barns we recognise how important the right venue is for creating that perfect wedding; with that in mind, we have come up with a few ideas that showcase the advantages of booking a winter wedding at Hendall.

Back in the 1700s Hendall opened its doors as a working farm, therefore it can withstand the elements! Now, not only has it been lovingly restored to look stunning as a backdrop for wedding photographs, it is still a family home meaning there is always someone on hand to help guide you through any aspect of your day.

Whether you hope to get ready surrounded by immediate family and friends in our wedding accommodation or arrive in style, we have plenty of space to house all those little extras you may need during a winter wedding. Things such as additional layers, alternative footwear, bridal & guest umbrellas as well as blankets. Our sandstone barn and bridal car parking is just next door to the main barn thus enabling minimal outside exposure. No one wants the weather to ruin your beautiful hair and makeup!

Our Stone Barn is under floor heated throughout, giving such a blissful feeling as you look out through the huge glass doors onto the icy scenes in our grounds whilst warm and snug inside the venue.

Although fizz and canapes are perfect any time of year, as the cold draws in, why not offer mulled cider/wine as a welcome alternative after your ceremony. We do not charge corkage at Hendall meaning there are many savings to be had.  Hot toddies go down well at the end of a wonderful day and your guests will appreciate these little thoughtful touches.

The Wedding Breakfast

Our approved caterers work all year round and are used to being here whatever the weather – from Soup with warm bread starters, to all varieties of comfort food.  All tastes and seasons are catered for and our caterers will create bespoke menus.

The stone walls provide a wonderful backdrop for you to decorate however you would like. Rich warm tones of berry red, burgundy and gold look especially opulent. Although white, silver and blue tones add a winter wonderland feel. Even a hint of tartan gives that cosy feeling. Maybe add extra wintry romance with lots of natural greenery. We have several areas within the barn to hang fairy lights or why not use battery powered fairy lights to add to the magic.

Decorations & Favours

Creative couples are drawn to Hendall and we are constantly amazed at the vast array of innovative ideas we see. Pine cones and holly are in abundance, and winter fruits/vegetables cooked up into jams and chutneys make winter a creator’s paradise. For those couples who’d rather not try their hand, winter markets seemingly pop up everywhere allowing unique wedding favours still to be found.

As the darkness of the night draws in, lights and candles are a wonderful way to change the atmosphere of your day as you move into the evening where possibly you may have a new group of friends to join you.

Although we know the weather in England is unpredictable at best, guests can still use the terrace in the evening and blankets add a welcome touch of luxury for them. Our festoon lights along the terrace add to the evening ambiance and the tables look lovely with simple glass jars and candles, sparkling in the crisp night air.

We believe the success to a Hendall Wedding is a day that ends as high as you felt when you arrived. It’s all about the timing.

Sparkler ‘send offs’ at the front of the barn are a striking way for you to leave your wedding reception after a long and happy day with all your family and friends around you sending you on your way into married life together.
