Sophie and Laurence were our second Hendall couple for the 2019 wedding season and held their wedding ceremony and reception at Hendall Manor Barns.

They chose a Sunday in March as their ideal wedding date; and together they created the perfect day for them and their family.

Sophie and Laurence first came to see us in September 2018 and, despite having their hands very full with a 2 year old son AND twin daughters, they booked Hendall as their perfect wedding venue and their plans began in earnest.

Budget was a key factor in their decision making, and by choosing a Sunday in March, we were able to offer a very competitive rate for them to have their wedding day with us.

As they had decided not to stay in our Bridal accommodation on this occasion, bridal preparations took place at their house. Sophie arrived via private chauffeur in a stunning Jaguar with her Father and Sister.

Laurence was responsible for all three children whilst Sophie was able to relax and have some well deserved pampering ahead of her big day!

After Laurence had arrived to Hendall with the children, he got changed and shortly afterwards, met with the Registrars with his Best Man alongside.

When Sophie arrived to Hendall, she was driven around to our side entrance so that none of her guests or her Groom could see her before the ceremony commenced. She then made her way in to the Conference Room with her Father to meet the Registrars.

Sophie walked down the aisle with her Father, accompanied by an instrumental version of Christina Perry’s, 1000 years.

Their drinks reception was held on the upper level of the Stone Barn, as, despite being a dry day, there was a chilly March wind and so our warming underfloor heating kept the guests cosy inside the Stone Barn whilst drinks and canapes were served.

The bride had chosen a purple and yellow theme for the wedding, and her bouquet was a gorgeous, plentiful arrangement of irises and daffodils! The bouquet, along with the chaps buttonholes, were made by the talented Flowercraft in Lindfield.

Their photographer, Hayley of Oakwoods Photography was new to us at Hendall, but managed the guests well and ensured all the Bride and Groom’s photographic requests were met. Sophie and Laurence were our second couple to make use of our new swing; such a lovely addition to photographic opportunities here at Hendall.

Before sitting down to enjoy their wedding breakfast, a group photograph was taken on the main entrance steps to Hendall.

Sophie and Laurence had chosen the excellent Jo and John of Green Fig Catering as their caterers from our approved list; we knew they would be in excellent hands with Jo and John at the helm.

The Bride and Groom had very cleverly made all of their floral centerpieces.  These consisted of beautiful planters filled with spring flowers, such as daffodils, hyacinths and primroses.

Any flowers that weren’t given to their guests as a little token of their thanks, were taken home and will be planted in Sophie and Laurence’s garden for them to enjoy over the years, each spring!

During the wedding breakfast, a family friend had brought in a disco for the children to enjoy and to keep them entertained; this then carried on after the wedding breakfast had finished for any adult guests who fancied a bit of a dance!

Sophie and Laurence have written this very kind testimonial on our Facebook page of their wedding day at Hendall.

“We got married at Hendall on the 10th. I loved it because the beautiful stone barn, the amazing scenery and photo opportunities are perfect for wedding piccys. Nicola and Peter were so friendly and helpful in both the build up of our day and the actual day itself, can’t recommend Hendall enough.”

It was a pleasure for us to host their wedding day and we wish them all the best for a hugely happy life together.
