Lotti and Kyle’s glorious spring wedding day at Hendall

Looking for a Spring wedding? Take inspiration from Lotti & Karl’s April wedding.

Lotti and Kyle were our second couple to marry in April and were blessed with the most wonderful spring day; a perfect setting for a wedding day at Hendall.

The bride and bridesmaids were up early, having stayed overnight in our on-site bridal accommodation and their hair and make up artist, Grace Benson, along with two assistants, pampered the ladies in preparation for the big day.

The chaps stayed in a nearby pub in Maresfield and made their way over to Hendall about an hour before the ceremony was due to take place.

They had chosen Martin Doyle of MDFood4Thought as their caterer from our Approved Caterers List. Martin and his team looked after the guests throughout the day serving them canapes, drinks, a two course wedding breakfast and evening food.

Their florist, Lucy of Florist on the Farm, wasn’t known to us, but came over in the morning to deliver the bouquets for the girls and set up some pretty flowers on the aisle chairs, drop off some stunning thank you bouquets along with some pretty jam jars filled with pink, white and green hues for the wedding breakfast tables.

Lottie and Kyle, having got engaged on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, decided to name their wedding breakfast tables after unique landmarks from the City.

Additionally, their love of gin, saw Lotti hand-craft empty gin bottles which she filled with fairy lights, to sit on wooden log slices with the jam jar flowers, becoming the centrepiece for each table.

Their photographer, Dale Weeks, has been to Hendall previously, and we were delighted to see him back here. Upon arrival he took some shots of the wedding ceremony set up, before heading over to the bridal accommodation to get those all important images of the girls getting ready.

The wedding cake was expertly crafted by Lotti’s auntie. They had asked her to make a three tiered semi-naked cake, decorated with freshly cut flowers. It looked amazing set against the brick walls of the Stone Barn and their personalised cake topper finished the overall look of their cake off very well.

Lotti was walked down the aisle by her Mother, to Gene Kelly’s whimsical ‘Singing in the Rain’ with five bridesmaids, all pretty in pink, walking in ahead of her.

Lotti’s dress was a Morilee design from Champagne and Confetti, a bridal dress shop in Eastbourne. She had also chosen a spectacular Cathedral length veil to accessorize the dress; this added a real wow factor!

Their ceremony was filled with love, laughter and happy tears (from the Groom!). They had written their own vows to say to one another; this was such a touching part of the whole occasion and their love for each other was tangible.

One of the most striking features within the barn, was the full length fairy light ‘wall’ which had been installed by one of our recommended venue decor companies, Mulberry Events. This stunning backdrop was 5 meters wide and 4.5 meters high; quite the challenge to install, but really worth the effort!

The fairy lights stayed lit for the entirety of their day, and when the daylight faded, it created a wonderfully atmospheric feel within the barn for the evening reception.

A recurrent ‘theme’ throughout their day was Lotti’s love for tea! In their vows to one another Kyle promised to always make Lotti and cup of tea after supper, and unbeknownst to Kyle, in Lotti’s vows, she promised to always drink any tea Kyle would kindly make for her; this created a lot of laughter from their guests!

As a fitting tribute to her love of tea, after their wedding breakfast, tea was served in pretty vintage mismatch china from the outside bar, which the guests enjoyed on the terrace in the early evening sunshine.

For their evening reception entertainment, they had booked Ian of Discofever – one of our recommended DJ’s and a regular friendly face here at Hendall. We also welcomed Bus and Bug Vintage Weddings here who provided a photobooth for the couple to enjoy with their guests. Ian kept the guests dancing away to Lotti and Kyle’s favorite tracks whilst the bar drinks flowed and Martin served Pizza as evening food for everyone to enjoy a little later on in the evening.

As the reception drew to a close, the guests lined up along the terrace and Lotti and Kyle walked through an arch of beautiful golden sparklers, before stopping at the end for a final kiss, which their photographer, Dale Weeks, cleverly managed to capture.
