The Cart Barn – Self Catering

Our converted Cart Barn is perfect for a getaway, with a king-sized double bed for up to 2 and many luxurious touches including a free-standing bath.

The Cart Barn

We have recently converted The 19th century Cart Barn providing a spacious studio style, single level, open plan retreat. Set within the Hendall grounds this opulent accommodation offers the perfect getaway to explore the local area or just to take a break in the tranquillity of the countryside.

Your Stay With Us

The open plan living-dining area is fully equipped for your self catering needs, including appliances you would find in most family kitchens in addition to a few added comforts, such as a Nespresso machine and fully automated electronic blinds. The Bedroom has a Super King sized bed with a free standing bath and adjacent WC & Shower room. Perfect to relax and get away from it all!

As well as sitting amidst the Ashdown forest, Hendall Manor Farm has direct access to the Weald Way public footpath and there are lots of great walks in the area. For those interested in all things Winnie-the-Pooh, we are pleased to recommend bespoke Pooh Trek Tours – an opportunity to discover the world of AA Milne and The Ashdown Forest.

There are of course local cycling routes including the Forest Way to and from Hartfield which incorporates a disused railway line.

The nearby towns of Lewes and Royal Tunbridge Wells offer interesting days out. The local town of Uckfield has a fantastic Picture House for those who fancy a trip to the cinema.

In addition to Brighton and The South Downs there are historic houses such as Chartwell (Winston Churchill), Standen and Rudyard Kipling’s Batemans – all within a reasonable drive.

The Cart Barn is available to book, for a minimum two-night stay.

Testimonials

  • Lovely brand new converted barn.

Lovely brand new converted barn. Great amenities, great countryside location – shops and country pubs only a few miles away. Nicola and Peter were super friendly and welcoming. We wished we had found this place earlier during our stay in England.

  • An absolutely lovely place

This is an absolutely lovely place to spend a weekend (or longer)! The space is bright, airy and perfectly equipped. The bed is super comfy and huge, and the kitchen has everything you need to cook if you want to do so. One of the nicest dog-friendly places we’ve ever stayed with an enclosed orchard just behind the barn. The shower is amazing and plenty of space to eat and relax with the Smart TV. Highly recommend this place to stay.

  • Such a recharge

I just wanted to say what a wonderful time we’ve had here. Such a recharge for our batteries in a beautiful tranquil environment. An exceptional stay in your barn with such interesting and rich history. We had fantastic walk to down the Millennium and Weald Way ending up in The Foresters. We have one very tired doggy and two very happy souls. Thanks ever so much for letting us be part of your fabulous setting.
