The Stone Barn

The Stone Barn is an impressive building, almost 100ft in length and is arranged on two distinct levels connected by steps and a ramp.

The Upper Level

The upper level of the building, dating from the mid-1800’s, provides a large reception area in addition to the entrance.

The slate flooring complements the sandstone and brick walls. There is under-floor heating throughout the Barn and a variety of lighting options to suit all moods and occasions.

There are two large openings, formerly loading doors; one provides the main entrance and the other access to an extensive raised, and south-facing terrace, that is ideal for receptions on a sunny day or as a stage for performances.

The Lower Level

The lower level of the building dates from the 17th century, with in-filled mullion windows and doorways set into its lovely rough sandstone walls. The tall vaulted roof and oak flooring provide ideal and well-proportioned space for comfortably seating up to 80 diners at round or rectangular tables.

More can be seated if the upper level is used as well. The comprehensive lighting incorporates pin lights that can be directed onto each table or into the stone recesses.

Facilities

A further ramp and archway lead into a servery and through to the caterer’s kitchen. The two large openings, allow plenty of light and one provides access directly onto the lawn.

Both halves of the Stone Barn have floor boxes for power and data input. Ten ceiling speakers and the integrated sound system ensure that speeches, presentations and films can be easily made, shown and heard.

You aren’t just hiring a venue at Hendall, the team are there to help throughout the day, whether that be taking charge of playing your ceremony music, fanning out your dress throughout the day or helping you to escape when you need a breather.

    The venue itself is naturally beautiful and because of that it doesn’t need a lot of decoration. We had an intimate ceremony of 30, and the space didn’t feel too big. Our evening guests of 60 filled the space nicely, with plenty of room left to dance, mingle at the bar and chat outside on the terrace.

  • Quick game of tennis before the wedding?

    Thank you all for making our wedding day the best day it could be.

    Right from the start Viki and Nicola were so attentive to our needs and helped to shape the special day we wanted into exactly how it turned out. From timings throughout the day and organising the music right through to the sparklers send-out everything went extremely smoothly.

    The accommodation added an extra dimension and helped to bring both families together the evening before the wedding and the night of. Having this option wasn’t something we’d initially planned for but we were certainly glad we decided to go with it. Also, the facilities are excellent. (Playing tennis on the morning of the wedding also went down extremely well)
