Can I have a ceremony at Hendall?

Yes, and our beautiful barn is the ideal setting. We ensure we have a rehearsal in advance of the wedding and East Sussex County Council/the Crowborough registrar team will officiate your ceremony.

Alternatively, you may wish to legally marry at another registry office and then hold an additional ceremony at Hendall with a celebrant or someone else of your choosing leading the service.

Can I have a church ceremony before my Reception at Hendall?

Absolutely. There are many local churches in the surrounding area for couples to approach. Please let us know if this is something you are interested in doing.

What is the venues capacity?

We can comfortably seat 100 to 120 guests. Additional evening guests are welcome.

Are you an inclusive venue?

Absolutely. Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is at the heart of what we do, where everyone feels comfortable being themselves.

Our venue is fully accessible, with ramps and accessible toilets so that all guests can enjoy the celebration with ease. As a small team, we take the time to get to know each couple personally and are always happy to adapt our approach to support anyone who may be neurodiverse, helping ensure the day feels calm, comfortable, and enjoyable for everyone involved.

Above all, we aim to create a space where every couple and their guests feel valued, understood and completely at ease.

Is my dog welcome at the venue?

At Hendall, pets are family.

Within reason, we will do our best to accommodate any request as we know there’s something incredibly special about seeing a beloved pet walking down the aisle, whether they’re trotting proudly as the ring bearer, bringing a dose of cuteness in a tuxedo or flower crown or simply offering emotional support with a familiar nuzzle during a quiet moment.

Do you have on-site accommodation?

Yes, we have self catering accommodation for up to 10 guests within the grounds. The Old Granary, sleeping up to 8 and The Cart Barn, our luxury couple’s suite. We will also recommend local accommodation, including hotels, country pubs and B&B’s.

When will I be able to check in?

Usually check in is at 4pm the afternoon before the wedding. To keep the mood light and the nerves at bay, enjoy the games room or spin a few classics from our awesome vinyl collection.

The fully equipped kitchen and dining area make self-catering a breeze, whether you’re planning a relaxed family meal the night before, a celebratory pre-wedding pastry or two on the wedding day or a final farewell breakfast. Check out isn’t until 11am so there’s plenty of time for it all!

Who will do my catering at the venue?

We are so lucky to have a dozen caterers on our approved list that you will be able to choose from. We will suggest two or three for you to approach once you have booked. They will be responsible for all your food throughout the day, staffing and the hire of all the equipment, including your choice of crockery, glassware and table linen.

Am I able to provide my own drinks & am I correct there is no corkage fee?

Yes and Yes!

We do not charge corkage, so there is a fantastic saving to be made by providing any manner of drinks you may like for your wedding or event.

Your chosen caterer is responsible for serving your drinks and we will organise a suitable time, ahead of your event, for you to drop off all drinks to us. We will then store and chill them in readiness for your day. We will also discuss drink quantities depending on your guest numbers.

Are we able to use our own suppliers?

Of course. While we’re always happy to share our trusted list of recommended suppliers, which can be a great place to start but you’re very welcome to book someone else. If your supplier hasn’t worked at the venue before, we encourage them to visit ahead of time so they can get to know the space and feel completely comfortable here, even a phone call helps people to feel at ease.

Can my guests park easily at the venue?

We have a large under covered barn for guests to park. There is no cost for this and guests can always breakfast in near-by hotels before having to collect their cars the following morning.

When can we visit the venue?
