‘The Barn’ is an unusual and historic 17th century sandstone building, nestled in the countryside; just a stone’s throw away from to the Ashdown Forest.

The Barn Facilities

There are two en-suite bedrooms (sleeping up to 6) arranged at either end of the first floor.

Craig Payne PhotographyThe Master Bedroom has a king size bed with soft furnishings and an en-suite bathroom consisting of bath with shower attachment, lavatory and washbasin.

From this bedroom, there are beautiful rural views over a private lawn from one side and a paddock with horses and woodland from the other.

The second bedroom is a spacious, well laid out ‘dormitory style room’, consisting of 4 single beds. However, two of these beds, can be made in to a double room.

An en-suite, consisting of bath with shower attachment, washbasin and lavatory, is adjacent to the bedroom.

If travelling with children, this room can work extremely well as a room exclusively for the children, or as a double for the adults with two extra beds for the children. This bedroom also benefits from a dual aspect, with far reaching views towards the South Downs.

Nestled between these bedrooms is our vaulted first floor sitting room with medieval timbers.

This spacious room has comfy sofas and armchairs, plenty of board games, books and a TV; a cosy setting for an evening together after a busy day exploring the many nearby attractions and walks.

Downstairs, a snooker/games room, studio room with table tennis table (which also works as a muddy boot room), well-proportioned dining room and fully equipped kitchen can be found.

As a self catering barn, you will need to provide all the food and drink that you would like to enjoy during your stay.

The kitchen has a tall fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine.

All necessary crockery, cutlery, utensils and glassware is also available .

There is an outdoor heated pool (typically open between the end of May and September) which guests are very welcome to make use of, along with an enclosed tennis court which can be used all year round.  Don’t forget to bring your own rackets and balls though.

Things to do

The Wealden Way public footpath passes close by offering direct access to The Ashdown Forest through the nearby village of Fairwarp.

Hartfield is famous for being the home of A.A. Milne, author of the Winnie the Pooh books, and is the location for the “Poohsticks Bridge”.

This is approximately a 10 minute drive from Hendall Manor Farm and is a lovely day out, especially if travelling with children.

There are plenty of local pubs and restaurants a short drive from the Barn and The Picture House in Uckfield, is a popular choice for many of our previous guests to go and enjoy a film and some popcorn during their stay with us.

How to book?

The Barn is available for both short (min 2 nights) and long stays and pricing will depend on time of year, number of guests (and dogs!) and duration of stay.

To get the most competitive price, it is best to come directly to us, however, our property is also available to book through Airbnb  and Sawdays.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Barn at Hendall Manor Farm.
