The brave couple.
Vicky & Steve originally chose September 26th for their wedding date as it was the anniversary of them becoming a couple. From the off, they were decisive and organised.
As soon as possible they began researching our recommended suppliers and making firm bookings for their day.
Unbeknownst then, things were about to change! I remember reading an email from Vicky back in September 2019 where she wrote an email saying “Thank you, so far it’s all been quite easy (Dare I say it!) “
Dare indeed! All through Lockdown they didn’t give up hope. We had known all along they were determined to marry should restrictions be lifted and although they weren’t originally planning on a Sussex barn small wedding, they embraced the news when it came and made the difficult decision to look at the guest list and move forward with their plans.
Positivity and dedication (What a combination).
Clearly never ones to be beaten, Vicky & Steve, now found themselves in a situation where much of their original planning needed tweaking. They reached out to all their suppliers who were hoping they would be able to go ahead, for many it was their first glimpse of a wedding for months, and began adapting table & seating plans, barn & table decorations, as well as their ceremony plans. They all needed to be adapted to ensure it was as magical as possible. Everyone came together to ensure this small wedding would be every bit as wonderful as if they had larger numbers.
What a great start to the day.
The morning of any wedding is special but seeing all the suppliers for the first time in months… amazing! Zelie at Homegrown Flower Company was busy decorating the milk churns outside at the entrance to the Stone Barn, To Have and To Hire installed two wisteria trees, to create a fabulous entrance leading down to where the ceremony was going to be held. Julia & her team at Food Glorious Food were busy preparing in the kitchen. A Sussex barn small wedding still packs the same punch… the buzz at Hendall was fabulous.
As prosecco was delivered to the bridal party in the accommodation cottage, guests began to take their seats. The registrars arrived in plenty of time and as the first of the 5 bridesmaids stepped out in front of Vicky & her mum to walk down the aisle, we all knew it had been worth it!
A close friend of Vicky’s from her oversea travels, Ben Barron was chosen as their photographer. Ben seamlessly captured the day and through intermittent showers the couple ended the day with some shots in the Hendall grounds.
